1996 Everest Tragedy: Makalu Gau's Story
Makalu Gau in the emergency clinic at Camp II receiving his first food. His facial edema had decreased noticeably by the time this picture was taken, and his cheek bones are becoming visible again but note the severe frostbite of the nose.
